Following its acclaimed 2021 debut praised as “slick” and “joyful” by critics like Billy Suter and Caroline Smart, the festival aims to enrich Durban’s cultural scene. Hosted by the Centre for Creative Arts at UKZN and held at Seabrooke’s Theatre, it serves as a launchpad for emerging music theatre talents. Directed by Steven Stead and with musical direction by Evan Roberts, the showcase spotlights compositions from the CAB writing mentorship programme. Notable returnees include Samantha Landers and Lyle Buxton, joined by fresh voices like Roshanda Lewis and Emkay Khanyile, ensuring a diverse lineup. Perold, as project manager, carefully curates an engaging song selection for an unforgettable experience. As excitement builds, the Centre for Creative Arts looks forward to another memorable “Cabaret and Beyond” event.
