Roland Perold

Roland is thrilled to be performing his much loved one man show at the Hilton Arts Festival. “It’s been too long”, says Roland who lived in Cape Town and worked abroad for many years before returning to KZN. “My last appearance at the Hilton Arts Festival was in 2011 with Kickstart’s production of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”, so a return visit is long overdue!”.

Roland Perold leads this charming trip down memory lane as he explores hits from the Golden Age of Musical Theatre; featuring composers like Bernstein, Gershwin, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Sondheim and others.

Armed with his deep love of the genre, anecdotes are shared and important questions asked, like: Why is it that characters in musicals burst into song!? And just how do you solve a problem like Maria?

The debonair Perold entertains from the piano with a new twist on many familiar tunes that have shaped the careers of these iconic writers. Well known tunes like “Two for Two”, “Oklahoma” and “September Song” feature. This cabaret has been extremely popular brining delight to old and young. It has played various venues around South Africa, England and on the high seas.

An entertaining show for the older generation. The superb pianist and composer Roland Perold takes the audience on a trip down memory lane.”
