Noël Coward and Cole Porter were two of the leading and most prolific artists of the twentieth century. Contemporaries from across the Atlantic, they were masters of their craft when it came to hitting a nerve with just the right amount of sarcasm and irony, and brought us favourite songs such as Let’s Do It, Mad Dogs and Englishmen and Mrs. Worthington.
Featuring the talented fingers and voices of dynamic musical duo Johnson and Perold, this collection of timeless masterpieces delight with witticisms, social commentary and innate absurdity.
“It is a rare treat to see the combination of Godfrey Johnson and Roland Perold – two of South Africa’s great musical masters – on the same stage together. Come and hear the much-loved Coward and Cole classics reinterpreted and showcased in a way that will please stalwart fans as well as a new generation of followers,” says Simon Cooper, owner of Kalk Bay Theatre.
Johnson has performed over twenty one-man shows nationally and internationally. He has worked extensively as a musician, director, composer and accompanied Pieter-Dirk Uys in his various cabarets. In 2007, Johnson won the Fleur du Cap award for Best Performance in a Cabaret for his work in Kissed by Brel.
